NUR-SULTAN. KAZINFORM - One of the most important tasks of the «Kazsat» national satellite communication and broadcasting system is to ensure the country's information security, which became especially evident during the days of the tragic January in Kazakhstan. The main load fell on the «Kazsat-3» geostationary telecommunications satellite, on which all television broadcasting in the country operates today. Shokan Svoguzov, Deputy Chairman of JSC "Republican Center of Space Communication" (“RCSC” JSC), answered the questions in a brief interview to a correspondent of MIA "Kazinform".

- Shokan Galikhanovich , when did the transfer of all subscribers of Kazakhstan to the «Kazsat-3» satellite take place?

- Today is a significant day for the “RCSC” JSC team - exactly 8 years ago, on April 28, 2014, the Kazakh satellite “Kazsat-3” was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, which is successfully operating in orbit. The spacecraft has its own orbital -frequency resource and is located at the point of standing 58.5° east longitude. Two years after the commissioning of "Kazsat-3", the national operator of digital and satellite television JSC " Kazteleradio " offered the people of Kazakhstan a qualitatively new television. This became possible after the transition to the new Kazakh satellite “Kazsat-3”. Previously, OTAU TV satellite television was broadcast from a foreign satellite, and the choice in favor of a Kazakh satellite was dictated not only by patriotic feelings, but also by economic feasibility and, most importantly, by ensuring the country's information security.

Could you give an example?

- During the January events, the management of the “RCSC” JSC, our specialists in the space communication centers in the Almaty and Akmola regions worked on-line. In addition to our responsible task of uninterrupted provision of the entire country with satellite communications, we, interacting with government agencies, were ready at any moment to take the necessary response measures to protect the information security of the country. It was about the objects of communication and television broadcasting. At such a crisis moment, only the presence of our own satellite constellation made it possible to convey reliable information about the situation in the country to our compatriots, to prevent terrorists from receiving television air. Only its own national satellite communication system ensures the information security of the country, and its high-quality maintenance and further development are very important for Kazakhstan.

What are the prospects for the development of the national space system "Kazsat"?

- Today, there are two satellites, “Kazsat-2” and “Kazsat-3”, in the space communication and broadcasting system of Kazakhstan. In 2021, our RCSC specialists, in close cooperation with the developer of the space communication system (SCC), conducted a technical audit, as a result of which the estimated life of the “Kazsat-2” satellite was extended from 2023 to the end of 2026. As for today's "birthday boy" - the satellite "Kazsat-3", this more powerful, technically equipped spacecraft is operating normally, today its load is 79%. Services of the third Kazakhstan communication satellite are used by 12 communication operators, it has more than 10 thousand stations. The service life of the “Kazsat-3” satellite ends in 2029. It is planned that from 2023 we will start creating a replacement satellite - “Kazsat 3R”. The challenges of today require us to make the right decisions on the further development of the domestic communications and broadcasting system, international cooperation. Already today, the “RCSC” JSC provides space communication services to our neighbors in the countries of Central Asia.

Thank you for the interview, new successes to the space communications specialists of Kazakhstan!
