NUR-SULTAN. PRESS RELEASE. By Decision No. 1/2021 of the Board of Directors of the Republican center of space communication (“RCSC”), Vasily Aleksandrovich Leonov was appointed to the position of Deputy Chairman of the Management Board from May 14, 2021.

Leonov Vasily Alexandrovich is 37 years old, was born and raised in Almaty city. In 2006 he graduated from Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronic with a degree in radioelectronic systems, systems engineer.

Based on the results of successful undergraduate internship at JSC “RCSC” in October 2005, he was accepted as an engineer of the operational control sector of the Mission Control Center (MCC) of the Akkol ground control complex of JSC “RCSC”. His work experience is more than 15 years.

In the period from 2006 to 2007, he passed the training and passed the certification exam for admission to independent work under the “KazSat-1” program and was transferred to the position of the leading engineer of the department for planning, analysis and control of the technical condition of the MCC spacecraft.

In 2011, he was transferred to the position of head of the department for planning, analysis and control of the technical condition of the MCC spacecraft, where he completed training under the “KazSat-2” program and passed the certification exam for admission to independent work in accordance with the position held.

In 2014, he completed training under the “KazSat-3” program and passed the certification exam for admission to independent work in accordance with the position held.

In 2016, he was transferred to the position of the head of the flight support service and control of the technical condition of spacecraft of the MCC.

Since February 2019, he has been holding the position of Deputy Director of the "Akkol" SCC - the head of the flight control center.

Leonov V.A. is constantly renewing himself engaged in self-development and was trained on the projects "KazSat", "KazSat-2" and "KazSat-3", practical training at the Flight Control Centers "Skolkovo", JSC “State Space Research and Production Center named after M.V. Khrunichev ", and JSC "INFORMATION SATELLITE SYSTEMS" named after academician M. F. Reshetnev " in the cities of Moscow and Zheleznogorsk.

Speaks English fluently and uses it in his work. During the period of work, he showed himself as a qualified specialist with organizational skills, the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully complete production tasks. He supervises young employees and students undergoing internship. Leads an active lifestyle, is engaged in social activities.

For his contribution to the development of the country's economy, he was awarded by the anniversary medal "25 years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan", the Certificate of Merit for the 25th anniversary of “Kazkosmos” from the Ministry of Aviation Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
