The OneWebDemo pilot project will be implemented on the basis of the National SC.

NUR-SULTAN. KAZINFORM - A working meeting was held at the National Space Center with a delegation of the international corporation "OneWeb" headed by Senior Director for technology Valerie Gineste, the correspondent of "Kazinform" INA reports.

Representatives of the Aerospace Committee of the MDDIAI RK, "Republican Center for Space Communications " JSC (RCSC), "Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary" NC"JSC (KGS) and "Ghalam" LLP took part in the negotiations to discuss technical issues of the implementation of the OneWebDemo project in Kazakhstan and the prospects for localization of production for the OneWeb system, the press service of the MDDIAI RK reports.

As you know, OneWeb is creating a global low-orbit satellite network to provide Internet access services and data transmission at high speed (up to 195 Mbit/s downlink and 32 Mbit/s uplink to a user terminal).

In April 2021, the parties signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of satellite communications. According to the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bagdat Musin, the memorandum will allow working out the issue of universal coverage of the territory of Kazakhstan, including remote and hard-to-reach rural settlements, with high-speed broadband Internet via OneWeb communication satellites.

During the negotiations, issues of implementing a number of areas of the memorandum of cooperation – the OneWeb Demo project in the Republic of Kazakhstan were discussed. In particular, the localization of the production of satellite elements, testing of demo satellites of the second generation of OneWeb, as well as electronically controlled antennas using phased array technology on the basis of the assembly and testing complex of spacecraft and the production site of Ghalam LLP.

The parties also agreed that test tests of phased array antennas using the OneWeb satellite constellation will be carried out on the basis of the National Space Center. These tests, together with the OneWeb Demo project, are aimed at forming a regional center of expertise for the use of the innovative low-orbit satellite system "OneWeb" in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Following the results of the meeting held during the visit of the OneWeb delegation, the parties agreed to continue cooperation and start working on the development of the agreements reached.
