Communication and broadcasting satellite KazSat3: 7 years of successful work in orbit
ACCOL. KAZINFORM - Today, April 28, 2021, marks the 7th anniversary of the launch of the Kazakh communication and broadcasting satellite «Kazsat-3», Kazinform correspondent reports. The launch of the «Proton-M» booster with the «Briz-M» upper stage, which launched the «Kazsat-3» spacecraft and the «Russian Luch-5V» relay satellite, took place on April 28, 2014 from No. 81 of the cosmodrome Baikonur. The third Kazakh communication and broadcasting satellite was manufactured by order of JSC «Republican center of space communication» (RCSC) by the Russian JSC «Information Satellite Systems» (ISS) named after M.F. Reshetnev jointly with «Thales Alenia Space» (Italy). "Kazsat-3" has its own orbital position - 58.5 degrees east longitude, the working life of the satellite is designed for 15 years. “Preparations for the creation and launch of the satellite began four years before the launch. At the end of March 2010, Kazakhstan announced a competition for the creation and launch of «Kazsat-3». The requirements were the highest, the competitive procedures lasted almost a year and a half. As a result, the contract for the production of the satellite "Kazsat-3" was signed on June 20, 2011 with JSC "ISS" named Reshetnev "- an enterprise with extensive experience and authority in the world of satellite technologies", - said the former head of «RCSC» JSC, advisor to the Chairman of the Board of JSC «RCSC» Viktor Lefter. After successfully launching and testing the spacecraft in orbit, «RCSC» JSC at the end of 2014 accepted the «Kazsat-3» communication and broadcasting spacecraft from the Russian manufacturer. In January 2015, the «Kazkosmos» acceptance committee signed a confirmation act on the implementation of the project and the results of flight tests of the «Kazsat-3» space communication system. Thus, with the commissioning of «Kazsat-3», a grouping of national communication satellites was created in the country, and Kazakhstan became the owner of a full-fledged space satellite communication and broadcasting system «Kazsat» as part of two satellites «Kazsat-2» and «Kazsat-3», as well as the main control center - the space communications center (SCS) "Akkol" in the Akmola region and the reserve ground control complex - the CCS "Kokterek" in the Almaty region. According to experts, when creating the third Kazakhstan communication and broadcasting satellite, modern technical solutions were used to ensure the specified characteristics of the spacecraft and the required level of reliability. “For all 7 years of the satellite's operation in orbit, not a single dangerous emergency situation was recorded that could affect its target task. As of today, «Kazsat-3» is loaded by 78%, and the demand for its services continues to grow,” says Kairat Telgarin, director of the Akkol SCS. The service area of "Kazsat-3", intended for the provision of television and radio broadcasting, telephony, data transmission services, includes the entire territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the central part of Russia, and the countries of Central Asia. Today the Kazakhstani space communication system KSS meets the needs of the country's domestic market by 100%. The services of «Kazsat» communication satellites are used by 15 main Kazakhstani communication and broadcasting operators, which have more than 13 thousand satellite earth stations located in the country. “In the difficult period of the pandemic, the role and necessity of space communications facilities and services have become especially obvious. The management of the company took all measures for high-quality work to ensure uninterrupted provision of the country's needs for fixed satellite communication channels, and in general information security of the Republic of Kazakhstan, " said Malik Zhuiriktayev, Chairman of the Board of «RCSC» JSC.
