ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Starlink satellite technology for broadband Internet access has been installed at Bulaksai Nº1 rural school in Arshalyn district of Akmola region.

Specialists of JSC «Republican Center of Space Communications» (hereinafter – JSC «RCSC») together with the press center of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan (hereinafter – the Ministry) visited the school to test the quality and speed of the connected Internet.

«The Internet speed is very fast. The coverage area is large, initially we were told that there would be only one class with a connection, but in fact wi-fi has covered all the classrooms» said Tatiana Vesna, head teacher for educational work of Bulaksai school.

«Now teachers and students can simultaneously work in the Kundelik system, the Bilim land educational platform, the National Educational Database (NED) online resource and many other online platforms. This will not only improve the quality of education, but also reduce the divide between rural and urban schools», - noted in the Ministry.

As known, on the order of the Head of State, the Ministry together with the national space communications operator JSC «RCSC» is implementing a pilot project to provide broadband connectivity to information and communication systems in secondary education institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan through Starlink satellite Internet.

It is planned to connect 2,000 schools in Kazakhstan and 270 schools in rural areas of Akmola region from 2024 under a preliminary agreement with Starlink using SpaceX technologies.
